About Lucy

With over 15 years’ experience in communications, marketing and community engagement, I’ve worked with a diverse range of organisations, from international brands like Air France, KLM and O2 to national bodies including the Scottish Government. My most recent in-house role was as Head of Communications and Marketing at Buccleuch, where I led strategic engagement across some of Scotland’s largest rural estates.

Today, I work independently with landowners, estate teams, public bodies, rural businesses and communities across Scotland, offering strategic communications and stakeholder engagement support rooted in practical experience and a deep understanding of the rural context.

I believe that communication is about more than just messaging. It is about listening well, building trust and helping people connect. My approach is always grounded in empathy and clarity, ensuring that engagement plans align not only with organisational goals but with the values, concerns and aspirations of the communities involved.

As a board member of Scottish Land & Estates, and with long-standing experience across the agriculture, forestry, tourism, energy and property sectors, I am passionate about supporting the evolution of rural Scotland. I am particularly interested in how landowners and organisations can respond to the opportunities and responsibilities emerging through land reform, the Land Rights and Responsibilities Statement and the broader land use debate.

Whether you are developing a new land management strategy, consulting on change or want to communicate more effectively with the people your work impacts, I would love to help
